Mother Courage and Her Children

November 7-15, 2024, Los Angeles

Ensemble Theater I (E407), CalArts

Written By Bertolt Brecht | Translated By Tony Kushner

Directed By Ilse Castro Corona

Mother Courage and Her Children follows the fearless Mother Courage as she struggles to earn a living with her wagon in a war-torn landscape. Incorporating the songs, the play exposes the harsh truth that war preys on the vulnerable and how its destructive effects endure over time. As each child confronts the dangers, the play keeps asking, "Why war?" – urging us to reflect on how greed and power fuel this ongoing destruction and its heartbreaking consequences.
